The President of the Republic received the Ambassadors of Ireland and Mongolia

President Arnold Rüütel received Seįn Farrell, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ireland to the Republic of Estonia residing in Estonia, who came to present his credentials, in Kadriorg today.

When presenting his credentials, the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland confirmed the excellent relations between Estonia and Ireland and delivered the personal regards of Mary McAleese, the President of the Republic of Ireland.

As the President said, the relations between two countries are close and have created a favourable basis for active political and economic contacts. The President expressed his hope that after the opening of the Irish Embassy in Estonia, the contacts between Estonia and Ireland would become even closer.

President Arnold Rüütel also received Chuluundorj Dashdavaa, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Republic of Estonia, who presented his credentials, in Kadriorg today.

The President of the Republic said that, despite the geographical distance, Estonia and Mongolia have much in common: both are in the middle of intense processes of transition, which proceed from similar basic values. As the President said, the exchange of experiences on the subject of reforms could be one of the areas for closer co-operation between Mongolia and Estonia.

President Rüütel congratulated the Ambassador upon the 90th anniversary of the creation of Mongolian foreign service, which is going to be celebrated soon.
