The President of the Republic met with five rural municipality mayors

President Arnold Rüütel participated in the festive joint council of the rural municipality councils and rural municipality governments of Imavere, Koigi, Paide, Roosna-Alliku and Väätsa at Järvamaa today, in order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the local governments and get acquainted with the joint development plan of the five rural municipalities.

The President said in his greeting speech that joint activities make it possible to use the available resources more efficiently. It helps to improve the competitiveness, developing the quality of services and business activities here, and to improve the infrastructure. All this creates also conditions for the development of local life and bringing in investments.

The Mayor of the Paide Rural Municipality Mr Ülo Ansberg introduced the joint development plan of five counties Südamaa 2010 (Heart of the Country 2010).

The President of the Republic emphasised that the joint development plan of five rural municipalities is the actual administrative reform for the purpose of bringing power closer to people and develop life in essence in Estonia. We all have to make efforts for that, then we can change life for the better. This meeting today is good in that sense that we can all think over together what the current situation is and where we would like to go.
