The President of the Republic received the Ambassador of Tunesia

Today at noon President Arnold Rüütel received in the Kadriorg Presidential Palace the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunesia to Estonia Mr Ali Bousnina who came to present his credentials. The first Ambassador of Tunesia accredited to the Republic of Estonia congratulated President Rüütel on behalf of the President of Tunesia Mr Zine El Abidine Ben Ali on his election as the head of state of Estonia.

The Ambassador said when presenting his credentials that Tunesia and Estonia has several joint characteristics and they share the same generally recognised values. Ambassador Bousnina acknowledged the progress made by Estonia in all areas thanks to its serious attitude, purposefulness and initiative.

Opportunities for the development of relations between the two countries were discussed at the meeting. 80% of the trade of the Republic of Tunesia is with the Member States of the European Union, and the quickly developing tourism brings to Tunesia more than 5 million tourists all over the world.

They dwelt also on the issue of how to make the fight against international terrorism more efficient and what are our possibilities for us to contribute even more intensively to securing the peace in the world.

The Ambassador of Tunesia Mr Ali Bousnina invited the President of the Republic of Estonia to state visit to the Republic of Tunesia.
