President of the Republic met with the Auditor General30.10.2001
President Arnold Rüütel met in Kadriorg today with the Auditor General Juhan Parts. President and the Auditor General exchanged views over the problems in the Estonian society, including the state auditing of the organization of privatisation and price policy of monopolistic companies, which were discussed at greater length. The rise in the price of electricity was dealt in more detail.
Juhan Parts introduced to the head of state the problems that the State Audit Office has encountered in its work. President of the Republic of Estonia and the Auditor Gneral had a thorough talk on possible additional opportunities for Riigikogu to adopt political decisions of national importance that would share the political reponsibility more equally and activate the Riigikogu to deal in addition to legislation with important daily political issues as well. It was agreed that the working meetings of the President of the Republic and the Auditor General will continue.
