The President of the Republic opened the Business Fair of Southeast Estonia
26.10.2001

President Arnold Rüütel opened the 10th Business Fair of Southeast Estonia today in the Põlva Cultural Centre and greeted the participants of the conference "Openly about Working Life".

According to the President, this year the fair is richer than before, and in his opinion the ability to further the life despite all difficulties shows above all the stubbornness of Estonians. The President compared the fair with a bridal chest which is important in the Estonian cultural history. According to him, the exposition in the Põlva Cultural Centre is the dowry of the Põlva people that was proudly displayed to the general public of entire Estonia - also to the members of the Estonian Government and Riigikogu.

When opening the conference, the President mentioned that the potential of the business fair is characteristic of entire Estonia. According to him no-one or nothing can be blamed for the fact that Tallinn has got ahead of the other regions, as this is inevitable in a transition society. The Business Fair of Southeast Estonia sets a great example for entire Estonia. The President addressed the participants of the conference with the wish that the issues talked about there would be a step further in the solution of employment problems.
