The President of the Republic had a meeting with Edgar Savisaar17.10.2001
The President of the Republic received Edgar Savisaar, the Chairman of the Centre Party, in Kadriorg today, and invited him to lunch.
The political situation in the world and in Estonia, and the issues of the state budget for the year 2002 were discussed at the meeting.
During his first weeks of presidency, President Rüütel intends to meet the Chairmen of all political parties. The President has already met Mart Laar, the Chairman of the Pro Patria Union, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the Chairman of the Party Mõõdukad (Moderates), and Villu Reiljan, the Chairman of the Estonian Peoples Union. Today, President Rüütel also had a meeting with Tiit Toomsalu, representative of the political parties of the Consultative Roundtable of Estonian Political Parties.
