The President of the Republic appointed a new director to the President’s Office

The President of the Republic today accepted the resignation of Urmas Reinsalu, the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic. As a professional public servant, Urmas Reinsalu has been the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic from 1998. The President thanked Urmas Reinsalu for his excellent service and wished him strength for the future. In the future, Urmas Reinsalu will be assisting the President of the Republic as an expert in certain matters related to state law.

As Urmas Reinsalu said, he is glad for the smooth and correct progress of the change of the President, and leaves with the intent to accept new professional challenges in the near future.

The President of the Republic appointed Tarmo Mänd to the post of the Director of the Office. As a professional public servant, Tarmo Mänd has been the leader of Hiiu County, worked as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and the Director General of the State Chancellery. In 1994-1995, Tarmo Mänd served as the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic on the invitation of President Lennart Meri.

As the President of the Republic said, he made the decision to appoint the new Director of the Office of the President proceeding from Tarmo Mänd’s long-term experience as a public servant, especially his experience as the Director of the office at the time of former President Lennart Meri.
