The President of the Republic expressed his condolences on the death of Aadu Luukas
08.10.2006

President Arnold Rüütel expressed his condolences to the family, close friends and colleagues on the death of Aadu Luukas who passed away yesterday.

The President of the Republic wrote in his letter of condolences sent to the family: “Aadu Luukas was a open minded person who had a positive attitude towards life. As an entrepreneur involved in wide scope of activities he was aware that social processes could be solved most efficiently if we were thinking globally. His commitment to the advancement of balanced development of Estonia society has created a precedent among business leaders and has set a good example for generations to come. Estonian national cooperation network and the process of public understanding that serves the development of civil society have to a great extent drawn upon his energy and convictions.

We shall remember Aadu Luukas as a quiet-voiced gentleman with strong values whose business success was based on his industriousness, knowledge and principles. Being a modest person he did not want to draw wide attention to himself, but his opinions always had authority. He knew how to assess people and valued human relationships. As a promoter of social dialogue he has received a high reward of the Republic of Estonia, the 2nd class Order of the White Cross.

I bow my head in sorrow and shall always remember Aadu Luukas with gratitude. According to his own words a deeper interest in social sphere and public life will turn an entrepreneur into a responsible citizen. The most vivid proof of that was his forward-looking activity that will be an example for many.”
