The President's Cultural Foundation announces a competition for the Young Artist Prize

The President's Cultural Foundation announces a competition for the Young Artist Prize. The deadline for the submission of candidates is May 5, 2006.

The Young Artist Prize to the amount of 50,000 Estonian kroons is awarded by the President's Cultural Foundation to Estonian artists up to the age of 35 years, whose artistic achievements have been widely recognized, or whose artistic work and activities have considerably helped to make Estonia and its culture known in the world. The Young Artist Prize is funded by Toomas Luman, Member of the Board of the Cultural Foundation.

Candidates for the prize may apply themselves, or be nominated by their supervisors, teachers, employers and also by Members of the Board of the Cultural Foundation. The candidates have to submit a written application with personal particulars and a brief CV (name, address, education, occupational experience); description of creative activities; references from at least two recognized artists or one artistic association and one recognized artist. All application documents are requested to be sent to the President's Cultural Foundation (Weizenbergi 39, 15050 Tallinn). The filing deadline (postmark date) is May 5, 2006.

The Young Artist Prize has been issued already five times. In previous years the award has been given to composer Tõnu Kõrvits, folk musician Krista Sildoja, writer and art critic Jan Kaus, contactor Anu Tali and theatre director and actor Jaanus Rohumaa.
