The President of the Republic to open a session of the General Assembly of the Roundtable on National Minorities26.11.2004
President Arnold Rüütel will open tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the conference hall of Hotel Olümpia a session of the General Assembly of the Roundtable on National Minorities. The participants of the session represent more than a hundred cultural societies of various national minorities from all over Estonia. The list of invited guests includes representatives of foreign embassies, officials from state institutions and politicians.
The Roundtable on National Minorities will discuss tomorrow the problems with implementation of the Cultural Autonomy of Ethnic Minority Act and the necessity to draft a new national minorities act. The Roundtable will continue discussions on possibilities for financing cultural societies of national minorities in the European Union, and on the future of Sunday Schools.
Minister for Population and Ethnic Affairs Paul-Eerik Rummo will make a welcoming address.
