The President's Cultural Foundation announces a competition for education prize

The President's Cultural Foundation announced a competition for the Education Prize 2004. The closing date for nominations for this prize is 10 September 2004.

The Education Prize is intended for educationalists at all levels who in the Estonian educational life have stood out as teachers, university lecturers, heads or employees of educational establishments, authors of textbooks or methodological materials, initiators or advocates of practical changes in the educational sphere, as well as education officials having devised educational policies.

The Board of the Cultural Foundation will select from amongst candidates three prizewinners. The President of the Republic will hand over the prizes on the International Teachers' Day, October 5. The prizes amount to 50,000, 30,000 and 20,000 Estonian kroons and are funded by the Hansapank.

Candidates have to submit a written application with personal particulars, description of their relevant educational activities and two references from their employers or fellow employees and trade unions or professional associations. All necessary documents are to be sent to the President's Cultural Foundation addressed Weizenbergi 39, 15050 Tallinn.

Candidates complying with the above requirements may either nominate themselves or be proposed by their employers, educational establishments and associations. The proposals will be submitted to the Cultural Foundation by the Estonian Education Personnel Union (EHL) in collaboration with other educational unions, societies and associations, and also by Members of the Cultural Foundation's Board. The EHL may submit to the Board up to ten candidates.
