The President of the Republic met with the Prime Minister24.12.2003
President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg during his customary working lunch with Prime Minister Juhan Parts discussed with him current domestic and foreign policy issues.
The President of the Republic during Christmas season is intending to meet in addition to Prime Minister Juhan Parts leading the political party Res Publica also with the leaders of the other political parties represented in the Riigikogu. At his thus-far meetings with Edgar Savisaar, Tunne Kelam, Ivari Padar and Villu Teiljan, they primarily have reviewed the political year. Since the ending year saw the celebration of the 85th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia as well as of the outbreak of the War of Independence, the meetings have largely focused on the issues of citizenship education. President Rüütel and the party leaders have discussed how to promote patriotic education and appropriately commemorate the people's quest for freedom.
