The President of the Republic met the Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia18.12.2003
 President Rüütel today received the letter of credence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia, Dory Sįnchez de Wetzel.
According to the President of the Republic, relations between Estonia and Colombia were good but rather limited in scope. He added that Estonia was interested in strengthening political and economic as well as cultural relations with Colombia. President Rüütel expressed the opinion that both sides could be interested in promoting two-way trade but first, a contractual basis should be worked out as a prerequisite for that.
Ambassador Dory Sįnchez de Wetzel conveyed to the President of the Republic from the President of Colombia, Mr. Alvaro Uribe Vélez, his cordial greetings and wishes for an increasing development of friendly ties and cooperation between Estonia and Colombia.
The President of the Republic noted that the Estonian-Colombian bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation deserved further development and wished the Ambassador success in his mission.
