The President of the Republic met with the Prime Minister12.11.2003
President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg at his customary working lunch with Prime Minister Juhan Parts discussed with him current domestic and foreign affairs.
Their discussion focussed on Estonia's demographic situation at present and in future. The President of the Republic emphasized that the grave situation arisen was reflected in a whole variety of different areas, from education system to employment, which all were going to be seriously affected by our low fertility rate. The Prime Minister agreed that the time was ripe for a wider public debate on these issues and there was undoubtedly a need for the participation of scientists in this process.
