The Heads of State of Estonia and Malta met at the Presidential Palace at VallettaThe President of the Republic voiced hope that the bilateral relations between Malta and Estonia in the fields of economy, culture and education grew closer. The Presidents were in accord that security, peace and stable development of all nations were supreme values in the name of which both large and small nations had to work together more extensively. The Presidents expressed delight that Estonia and Malta had coinciding positions also on the future structure and functions of the European Union. "I am sure that, for the sake of defending these principles, we will work closely together both at the Intergovernmental Conference and in the future European Union, and we are going to have many allies," the President of the Republic said.

This evening, the President of Malta and Mrs Violet de Marco at the Presidential Palace will host a state dinner in honour of the Estonian Head of State and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel.
