The President of the Republic met the Ambassador of China30.09.2003
President Rüütel today at Kadriorg received from the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Hong Jiuyin, his Letter of Credence.
The President of the Republic noted that bilateral relations between Estonia and China had developed rapidly and productively, Estonia's economic cooperation with China had become ever more closer, and the preconditions for the promotion of our cultural and educational relations were excellent.
The Chinese Ambassador confirmed that China continued to support Estonia's national independence and economic development, respected the way of development chosen by the Estonian people, and was ready to promote cooperation between China and Estonia guided by the principles of mutual respect, equality and equal advantage.
President Rüütel expressed conviction that Estonia and China in the years ahead would identify several areas of common ground in culture, science and environment, in which to work together in the interests of their peoples and the whole world.
