The President of the Republic to attend the 58th UN General Assembly

President Arnold Rüütel tomorrow will leave for New York to take part in the 58th Session of the UN General Assembly next week.

On Sunday, the President of the Republic at the Estonian House in New York will meet with the local Estonian community. On Monday, President Rüütel will deliver speeches at the conference "Fighting Terrorism for Humanity" and the UN General Assembly's Plenary Session on HIV/AIDS.

On 23 September, the President of the Republic will attend the opening of the 58th Session of the UN General Assembly. On Wednesday, 24 September, President Rüütel will speak at the 58th Session of the UN General Assembly and sign the Additional Protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

On Thursday, the Head of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Estonia to the United Nations, Ambassador Mrs Merle Pajula, at the Scandinavian House will hold a reception in honour of the President of the Republic.

In addition, President Rüütel is scheduled to have several bilateral meetings with other heads of state in New York.

The President of the Republic will return to Estonia on 27 September.
