The President's Cultural Foundation announced a competition for education prize

The President's Cultural Foundation announced a competition for the Education Prize 2003. The deadline for putting up candidates is 15 September 2003.

The Education Prize is awarded to educationalists at all levels who in the Estonian educational life have stood out as teachers, university lecturers, heads or employees of educational establishments, authors of textbooks or methodological materials, initiators or makers of practical changes in the field of education, as well as education officials having devised educational policies.

The Board of the Cultural Foundation will select from amongst candidates three prizewinners. The President of the Republic will hand over the prizes on the International Teachers’ Day, on October 5.

The prizes amounting to 50,000, 30,000 and 20,000 Estonian kroons are to be funded by the Hansapank.

Candidates have to submit a written application with personal particulars, description of their relevant educational activities and two references. All necessary documents are to be sent to the President’s Cultural Foundation addressed Weizenbergi 39, 15050 Tallinn.

Candidates may be put up by both those complying with the above requirements themselves and their employers, educational establishments or associations. The proposals will be submitted to the Cultural Foundation by the Estonian Education Personnel Union (EHL) in collaboration with other educational unions, societies and associations, and also by Members of the Cultural Foundation’s Board. The EHL may submit up to ten candidates.

The President's Cultural Foundation awards on a yearly basis also a Young Artist Prize and a Young Scientist Prize.
