The President of the Republic to make a working visit to Germany

President Arnold Rüütel will be on a working visit to Germany from 14-18 June.

The President of the Republic will arrive in Berlin by late evening on 14 June. On 15 June, President Rüütel will visit Potsdam. In the afternoon he will meet the former Ambassador of Germany to Estonia Henning von Wistinghausen and the head of the German Knighthood in Estonia Wolfhart von Stackelberg.

On June 16, President Rüütel will participate in the 6th annual conference of PfP Consortium, the consortium of military schools and institutes of security studies from the countries, which have joined the Partnership for Peace Programme. The President of the Republic will make a presentation on Europe and the regional stability of its peripheries.

PfP Consortium is an international organization, the aim of which is to develop military and security related education through international cooperation. Currently the consortium comprises more than 300 organisations from 42 countries.

On 16 June, in the afternoon, the Head of State of Estonia will meet Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit and the member of the Bundestag and the Vice-President of the Farmers’ Union of Germany Norbert Schindler. In the evening the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Berlin will host dinner in honor of the President of the Republic.

On 17 June, after the end of the Conference President Rüütel will meet the Federal President of Germany Johannes Rau and the Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Bundestag Matthias Wissmann. In the evening President Rüütel will have dinner with Estonian students studying in Germany.

On 18 June the President of the Republic will meet with Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder.

The President and the accompanying delegation will return to Tallinn in the evening of 18 June.
