The President of the Republic made a proposal to appoint Chairman of Supervisory Board of Bank of Estonia05.06.2003
President Arnold Rüütel today, pursuant to § 78, 11) of the Constitution, § 7 of the Bank of Estonia Act, and § 90 (3) of the Riigikogu Rules of Procedure Act, made to the Riigikogu a proposal to appoint Mart Sõrg the Chairman of Supervisory Board of the Bank of Estonia.
Mart Sõrg, long-time Professor of Money and Banking at the University of Tartu, has been a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Bank of Estonia from1990 up to this day. Mart Sõrg's wide-ranging knowledge and conscientious work have played an important role in shaping the Estonian monetary system and banking.
