The Board of the President's Cultural Foundation on 3 June will hand this year's Young Artist Prize to Jan Kaus.

Jan Kaus, an author, translator and art critic belonging to the younger generation, earned this recognition as an opinion leader engaged in a broad range of interdisciplinary activities. On top of that, the Cultural Foundation’s Board highlighted him for being an outstanding bearer and modernizer of our national culture.

In the near future, his collection of stories and essays will be published, and he is about to start translating into Estonian "The History of Cinematographic Art" by Peter von Bagh. Furthermore, the prizewinner has actively propagated Estonian literature abroad.

The Young Artist Prize is awarded to Estonian artists up to the age of 35 years, whose artistic achievements have been widely recognized, or whose artistic work and activities have considerably helped to make Estonia and its culture known in the world. The prize to the amount of 40 000 Estonian kroons is awarded once a year, in spring, and is funded by Toomas Luman, Member of the Board of the Cultural Foundation.
