PRELIMINARY NOTICE
The President of the Republic to visit the County of Pärnumaa

President Arnold Rüütel Sunday evening will embark on a working visit to Pärnumaa. During the visit, he intends to familiarize himself with the county's agriculture, industries and ports, and to explain to people of Pärnumaa the circumstances of our accession to the European Union.

Monday morning, he will visit the County Government of Pärnumaa meeting there also with representatives of the Association of Agricultural Producers of Pärnumaa and the Association of Farmers of Pärnumaa. Thereafter, President Rüütel will open a seminar on European Union. Before noon, the President of the Republic will visit the Flax Mill of Pärnu and the birthplace of Konstantin Päts. President Rüütel and Mrs Rüütel will call at the Kindergarten-Primary School of Tahkuranna and, thereafter, the Head of State will familiarize himself with local industrial enterprises. In the afternoon, President Rüütel will open a new gymnasium at Häädemeeste, visit the Rural Municipality of Tali and the Agricultural College of Tihemetsa.

On the second day of the tour, the President will visit the Port of Pärnu and the Pärnu College of the University of Tartu. The President is also scheduled to meet with local government leaders and to call at the Memorial Church of Estonian Soldiers at Tori. In the second half of the day, President Rüütel is going to visit the Dairy Cooperative of Tori-Selja, and then leave for the Rural Municipality of Vändra to call at local industries there. On top of that, President Rüütel will take part in a discussion of the present state of Estonian forestry, meet with cultural figures and educationalists from the surroundings of Vändra, and visit C. R. Jakobson Farm Museum at Kurgja.

The President will return to Tallinn late on Tuesday.
