The President of the Republic visited the Agricultural Centre of Mersch

The Prime Minister of Luxembourg today at a dinner hosted in honour of the President of the Republic said that Estonia as a brave nation was a great example for Luxembourg, that Luxembourg admired Estonia’s progress and, therefore, had done its utmost to support Estonia's efforts to join the European Union.

In the afternoon, President Arnold Rüütel continued his state visit to Luxembourg calling at the Agricultural Centre of Mersch. The President of the Republic was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture of Luxembourg, Mr Fernand Boden, the Chairman of the Chamber of Agriculture, Mr Marco Gaasch, and the Mayor of the Community of Mersch, Mr Marcel Erpelding.

The President of the Republic and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel in the evening will host a reception in honour of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess at the Golf Club Grand Ducal.

Tomorrow, in the morning of 7 May, President Rüütel and Luxembourg's Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker at the Grand Ducal Palace will hold a joint press conference. Later, the President will familiarize himself with European Navigator, a multimedia application at Chāteau de Sanem, and the Department of Environmental Technology of the Public Research Centre Henri Tudor at Esch-sur-Alzette.

The President and the delegations accompanying him will return to Tallinn on 7 May, in the evening.
