PRELIMINARY NOTICE
The President of the Republic to make a state visit to Luxembourg

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel from 5 to 7 May 2003 will pay a state visit to Luxembourg.

The President on the visit will be accompanied by an official delegation consisting among others of the Ambassador of Estonia to Luxembourg, Sulev Kannike, the Governor of the Bank of Estonia, Vahur Kraft, and the Governor of the County of Jõgeva, Margus Oro, by a twenty-member business delegation headed by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Toomas Luman, and also by a press delegation.

The departure flight from Tallinn to Luxembourg is scheduled for 5 May. In the same afternoon, a festive welcoming ceremony will take place in Luxembourg at Marché-aux-Herbes where the President of the Republic and Mrs Rüütel will be greeted by His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri and H.R.H. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.

President Rüütel will lay a wreath at the Monument of Solidarity on Plateau du St-Esprit. Thereafter, he will meet with the Mayor of Luxembourg, Paul Helminger. In the afternoon, President Rüütel will have conversations with the Chairman of the Parliament of Luxembourg, Jean Spautz, the Prime Minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lydie Polfer.

In the evening, the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess will host a dinner in honour of the Estonian President and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel at the Grand Ducal Palace where both Heads of State will deliver speeches.

On 6 May, the state visit will continue with trips to Clervaux, Mersch and Gaichel. The President will visit the Chāteau de Clervaux, the exhibition "The Family of Man" composed by Edward Steichen and the Agricultural Centre of Mersch. In the evening, the President of the Republic and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel will hold a reception in honour of the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess.

Wednesday morning, 7 May, President Rüütel and Prime Minister of Luxembourg Jean-Claude Juncker will hold a joint press conference at Salle de la Balance. Later that day, the President will familiarize himself with the multimedia project "European Navigator" at the Palace of Sanem and Centre de Ressources des Technologies pour l“Environnement at the National Henri Tudor Research Centre, Esch-sur-Alzette.

The President and the delegations accompanying him will return to Tallinn in the evening of May 5.
