President Arnold Rüütel today continued his consultations with the political parties elected to the Riigikogu meeting at Kadriorg with the Chairman of the Reform Party, Siim Kallas.
The topics of their meeting were, above all, programmatic standpoints, on which the future ruling coalition should focus. The Head of State emphasized social and moral values, the need to streamline family policy and measures to boost our birth rate, and also the need to guarantee that all children received competitive general education.
Siim Kallas assured that several of the issues named by the Head of State had been dealt with at the coalition talks under way, and that the understanding of the necessity to conclude a national agreement had got broad support there as well.
During the meeting, they also touched upon the issues of administrative reform, effective state apparatus and the likes, which, similarly, have been under discussion at the ongoing coalition negotiations between the Res Publica, the Reform Party and the Peoples Union.
President Rüütel will continue his consultations with political parties.
