The President of the Republic presented Adolf Šapiro with an order20.03.2003
 Producer Adolf Šapiro this afternoon at Kadriorg received from President Arnold Rüütel the 3rd Class Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana conferred on him on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.
The President thanked the recipient of the order for his contribution to the Estonian theatre in the course of more than thirty years by now. The Head of State stressed that, in addition to the Estonian public, theatregoers of many other countries had appreciated Adolf Šapiro's producing style rich in nuances, and that he, in his capacity as a theatre scientist, was welcome at many famous universities of the world.
Adolf Šapiro assured that co-operation with Estonian actors and actresses had always given him a great pleasure. He paid credit to Voldemar Panso's work in creating the Estonian school of theatre and expressed his satisfaction with having had the chance to work together with Panso. He also remembered performances featuring actresses Lisl Lindau and Linda Rummo as well as actors Jüri Järvet, Ants Eskola, Mikk Mikiver and many others. Adolf Šapiro said that, despite being busy, he had the desire to produce a new play in Estonia before long.
