| Press Releases | | | The President of the Republic received the Ambassadors of Slovenia and Morocco16.05.2002
Today at noon, President Arnold Rüütel at Kadriorg received the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, Mrs Darja Bavdaž Kuret, who came to present her credentials.
The President identified similarities both in the historic aspirations and strategic aims of Estonia and Slovenia. "Our two nations are among the smallest in Europe and it is in our interests that the future of democratic Europe be shaped on the basis of co-operation and integration," the President noted.
Like for Estonia, this year for Slovenia too is a year of vital decisions and significant processes, the progress being measured in weeks rather then in months. "This applies, in the first place, to the process of accession to the European Union and NATO," the President emphasized and added: "I am very glad that Estonia and Slovenia share this way, support each other and are successful in their efforts."
Also the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr Menouar Alem, presented his credentials to President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg.
Receiving the credentials, the President looked briefly back on the longstanding relations between Estonia and Morocco. "Morocco is one of the countries in Africa which has captured the attention of Estonians already long ago, being an inspiring destination and place to spend holidays for many outstanding figures in the history of Estonian culture. Many well-known works of Eduard Viirat, the great Estonian graphic artist, have been created at Marrakesh in Morocco," the Head of State recollected.
According to the President, these days, the Estonian-Moroccan bilateral trade, economic and cultural relations definitely deserved further promotion, just like the range of our links with Mediterranean countries at large.
