The President of the Republic met with entrepreneurs of Ida-Virumaa29.01.2002
The second half of the first day of President Arnold Rüütel's tour in Ida-Virumaa was devoted to meetings with entrepreneurs of Narva.
The Head of State acknowledged the activities of the metalworking factory Balti ES, the leather processing factory Nakro, the manufacturer of table-tennis bats NTT and other enterprises in creating jobs and boosting both competitiveness and exports. However, the entrepreneurs pronounced themselves endangered due to a constant pressure on prices by electricity and communications monopolies as well as to EU-standards to be applied without any period for transition.
Thus, at the subsequent meeting in the Narva Elektrijaamad Ltd, the President was interested in what were the chances to slow down the intended increase of electricity price. Answering to the President, the leaders of Eesti Energia tried to convince him that the price increase is inevitable.
Thereafter, the Head of State visited the Baltic power station and made for the Narva-Jõesuu Training Centre of the Border Guard.
