The President of the Republic participated in the 83rd anniversary of the Estonian Police12.11.2001
President Arnold Rüütel today participated in the festive meeting celebrating the 83rd anniversary of the Estonian Police at the Assembly Hall of Tartu University.
In his welcoming address, the President said that changes in the international situation also necessitate the police to pay more attention to the struggle against organised crime and terrorism.
President Rüütel praised the policemen for their hard work and emphasised that guaranteeing proper education for the policemen, as well as strengthening of discipline, are the foundation for building up trust.
The President of the Republic congratulated the chevaliers of the Cross of Merit of the Police.
